Classmates celebrate being 77 together in August

​​***Classmate Claude "Butch" Chavez was inducted into the South High School Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, in a ceremony at Pueblo Community College.  Butch, a Vietnam War vet himself, has worked tirelessly to promote the causes of our generation's war veterans.  To see pictures taken at the ceremony as well as at the South High School assembly on October 25, 2019, visit the NEWS FROM CLASSMATES page.


Early in the summer of 2019, Butchannounced that the Pueblo POW/MIA Memorial was to be recognized August 16 to 18, 2019, at a HUGE salute to American Veterans rally in Cripple Creek.  Go to the NEWS FROM CLASSMATES page for links to information about that event. 


Butch's veterans' organization has a website entitled "The Pueblo Seven."  A link to it is also included on NEWS FROM CLASSMATES page.


***Two original paintings by Sheryl Hutchings were accepted into the Fine Arts Exhibit at the 2019 Colorado State Fair.  See them and access a link to her body of work as a budding artist by going to the NEWS FROM CLASSMATES page!

FOR 60 YEAR REUNION!

Two of our esteemed classmates have been inductied into the South High Hall of Fame: LESTER GARRETT, posthumously  (nominated by Bennie Swanson and Sheryl Hutchings)  and JOHN REINERT (nominated by Ruth Taravella).

This exciting and prestigious occasion took place on April 15, 2023, at the Pueblo Country Club.


​The annual dinner and auction to recognize Hall of Fame recipients was the sixteenth in the tradition.  It is the number one fundraiser to support  students' needs at our alma mater.

Class Dinner Re-Scheduled for May 1 in Castle Rock 


Unfortunately Mother Nature took charge on March 14 and forced us to cancel the class dinner we had planned.  The good news is that  it has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at La Loma Restaurant in Castle Rock.  Please rsvp to Sharon Griffin by April 24 if you plan to attend.  Sharon's email address is  sharong@ghvalley.net 

       At a meeting on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Pueblo, the continued planning for our three-day 60th Reunion kicked into high gear.  The reunion is set for the dates of Friday, September 20, 2024, Saturday, September 21, 2024, and Sunday, September 22, 2024.


If you haven't already completed the informal interest questionnaire form on the left, please do so to help guide us in our planning. An official registration form for all reunion activities will be posted on this website on August 1.  Online registration will be possible using the official form until September 6.

     Friday, September 20, 2024:An informal mixer followed by a casual dinner at the River's Edge Restaurant 

     Saturday, September 21, 2024: An optional trip to historic Cripple Creek to gamble or enjoy other attractions

     Sunday, September 22, 2024: Golfing 9 holes together at Elmwood Golf Course will be on tap for those who choose to play a short round.     

    We are contemplating creating a high school days fun facts and trivia based calendar as a fundraiser.  The cost of the calendar would be $20.  If we spend the time to create it, would you be interested in purchasing one?  Please let us know by completing that item on the questionnaire form on the left.

CONGRATULATIONS

TO THE 2017 SOUTH HIGH COLTS FOOTBALL TEAM WHO CLAIMED A FIRST EVER COLORADO CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!  

​OUR CLASS HAS DONATED $500 TO OUR ALMA MATER TO PURCHASE A GIANT FRAMED TEAM PICTURE OF THE NEW STATE CHAMPS!

On August 23, 2023, pool side at Ruth Taravella's home, class members gathered to celebrate their 77th birthdays as a group.  It was a lovely day, and there were a few new faces in the group.  See if you can pick them out and identify them!
