DAY 2...A DAY TRIP TO CRIPPLE CREEK

SEVERAL OF US TRAVELED TO THE CASINOS IN CRIPPLE CREEK TO TRY OUR LUCK, SHOP, OR SIGHTSEE.  SOME RODE THE SHUTTLE BUS, SOME GOT THERE INDEPENDENTLY, BUT WE ALL HAD A GOOD TIME.  WE MET FOR LUNCH AT 1 P.M., ENJOYED ANOTHER MEAL TOGETHER, AND THOSE ON THE BUS BOARDED AGAIN AT 4 P.M. TO JOURNEY BACK TO PUEBLO.  THE ASPENS WERE GLORIOUS AND THE VIEWS MADE THE TRIP WORTHWHILE EVEN IF LUCK WASN'T ALWAYS WITH EVERYBODY.

DAY 1...DINING TOGETHER, PHOTO OPS, DUCK RACES, AND DRAWINGS

OUR REUNION BEGAN WITH A CASUAL DINNER AT RIVER'S EDGE BANQUET HALL AT 102 ONEIDA ST. FROM 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024.  THE EVENING FEATURED DINNER, DANCING, AND LOTS OF CONVERSATION!  THE HALL WAS DECORATED WITH SOUTH HIGH MEMORABILIA, AND ATTENDEES COULD PURCHASE A DUCK (OR TWO OR THREE) TO BET ON IN A DUCK RACE DOWN THE RIVER.  THEY COULD ALSO BUY TICKETS FOR A 50/50 RAFFLE IN WHICH TO TAKE HOME HALF THE TOTAL COLLECTED IF THEIR NUMBER WAS DRAWN.   OR, THEY COULD JUST CONTRIBUTE SOME CASH TO THE DONATION JAR.  SEVERAL CLASSMATES AND THEIR MATES OR DATES WALKED TO THE BRIDGE OVER THE WATERFALL TO WATCH THE PURCHASED DUCKS AS THEY WERE TOSSED IN THE RIVER, AND THE RACE WAS ON!

THOSE DUCKS THAT DIDN'T GET CAUGHT IN SWIRLS OR EDDIES FLOATED DOWN STREAM WHERE THEY WERE COLLECTED AS THEY CROSSED THE "FINISH LINE."  JOHN REINERT'S DUCK WAS THE WINNER!  JOHN TOOK HOME AN ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING CREATED BY SHERYL HUTCHINGS AS A PRIZE.  MANY THANKS TO KEITH FRAZIER, RUTH TARAVELLA'S FIANCEE, WHO WAS WILLING TO GET WET TO  NET THE DUCKS THAT FLOATED DOWN!

BOB REED WAS THE BIG WINNER IN THE RAFFLE DRAWING.  PAT MUNOZ ELLIS DREW HIS TICKET AND HE TOOK HOME $167.  IN TOTAL, $600 WAS COLLECTED FROM THE SALE OF DUCKS, RAFFLE TICKETS, AND DONATIONS.  THE PROCEEDS WILL BE DEPOSITED IN OUR CLASS FUND TO HELP US FINANCE FUTURE REUNIONS AND OUR WEBSITE.

DAY 3...GOLF CANCELLED DUE TO COLD WEATHER, BUT LUNCH AT RUTH'S WASN'T!

WE HAD PLANNED TO PLAY A 9 HOLE SCRAMBLE AT DESERT HAWK GOLF COURSE, BUT THE WEATHER DIDN'T COOPERATE.  IT WAS COLD AND RAINY BY PUEBLO STANDARDS, SO WE SLEPT IN INSTEAD.  THOSE WHO HAD NOT LEFT TO TRAVEL HOME WERE INVITED TO RUTH'S PLACE TO SHARE THE LEFTOVERS FROM FRIDAY NIGHT'S BUFFET AND COINCIDENTALLY CELEBRATE HER BIRTHDAY.
